Form

The term form(s) indicates the shape, container, or design of the dish. For example:

  • "Roll" - is a form and sushi may be the dish; braised rice rolled in cabbage leaves is the dish.
  • "Stuffed" is the form and roasted winter squash may be the container. Or dates may be "stuffed" with a nut mixture.
  • "Casserole" is the form and lasagna or spanakopeta is the dish.
  • " Salad" is the form and Tabouli may be the dish. This applies to any grain, vegetable, or bean marinade.
  • "Soup" is a form.
  • "Bar" is the form and the dish could be brownies, or lemon bars.
  • "Cookie" is the form, even though the construct could be the same ingredients and method as "Bars."
  • "Custard" is a form that relates to the soft combination of sweetener, no-grain binders, sometimes fat and flavoring. Lemon, chocolate, banana cream custard being the dishes.
  • "Pudding" is a form that uses a grain binder, rice and bread pudding being the dishes.
